ACLU-TN in the 104th Tennessee General Assembly
Join the ACLU-TN Legislative Alert The second year of the 104th Tennessee General Assembly convened in January 2006 with a Special Ethics Session. That session ended in early Feburary, and the regular session of the Tennessee General Assembly is now under way. ACLU-TN anticipates a difficult and challenging year for civil liberties and civil rights. We will focus on a range of issues (free speech, reproductive freedom, lesbian and gay rights, voting rights, immigrant rights, criminal justice and racial justice, to name a few) as we lobby to support bills that promote and protect our freedoms and lobby against those bills that erode our civil liberties. Your voice is vital for ensuring constitutional guarantees in Tennessee. Please contact your state senator and house representative when you learn about bills that could affect civil liberties. Via this website, we will try to make every effort to provide specific information about the pending bills, ACLU-TN's position, and talking points. Typically the turn-around time is short - what is important is that your elected officials hear from you. Thank you in advance for joining with us to protect our freedoms in Tennessee.
