Advocacy Intern-- Summer 2008The ACLU of Tennessee is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan membership organization whose mission is to protect and promote civil liberties through public education, advocacy, litigation, and legislative activities. ACLU-TN is seeking an Advocacy Intern who will assist the Staff Attorney and Administrative Coordinator by responding to requests for assistance from Tennesseans who feel their civil liberties have been violated. The ACLU-TN advocacy program serves approximately 2,000 persons each year. We receive approximately 200 phone calls and 50 letters each month in the State Office, which is located in Nashville. RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONSStrong communication skills Ability to quickly analyze a broad range of complex issues Commitment to civil liberties Sense of humor Interns must make a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week. Interns who commit 20+ hours per week may pursue a special project developed in conjunction with the Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator.
