March 10, 2006: Thank the courageous 9 voting against SJR127Dear Friends,
On Thursday, Tennessee joined those states whose legislators hope to take away a woman's right to reproductive freedom. The Senate voted 24-9 to pass SJR127 - laying the groundwork to remove the strong state constitutional guarantee of privacy as it pertains to abortion. This would allow the Tennessee Legislature to ban abortion if and when Roe v Wade is overturned.
Nine courageous Tennessee state senators voted NO on SJR127. Please thank each of them for supporting privacy rights and access to safe and legal health care for women. Contact information is listed below. (All legislative plaza phone numbers are 615 area code.)
SJR127 now goes to the House and next week we will share information about contacting your house representatives to tell them to vote NO on SJR127.
