March 28, 2003: Equality YES! Action - Nashvillians please contact council membersDear Friends, Many of you probably know that the ordinance to provide employment protections based on sexual orientation to Metro Employees barely passed on first reading. The second vote on Ordinance BL2003-1354 will be next Tuesday, 4/1. If you live in the districts listed below and/or personally know any of these council members, please call them before Tuesday and let them know that you want them to support passage of this bill, if not completely, then at least on second reading so that we can get together with them and discuss the merits and importance to our community. Those council members listed below with a Y before their phone number (omitted for web) voted for the ordinance on first reading and need a "Thank You" and assurance that we will support them in the upcoming elections. Also, we are asking folks to come out to the Metro Courthouse between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday to sit in the gallery during the meeting (Two Rivers Baptist Church will be bussing in opposition members and usually arrive at ~5:30.). We will be handing out Equality YES! stickers for you to wear during the meeting. Note: the meeting will not begin until 7:00 p.m. so you may want to bring something to read and/or eat. Many thanks for your support.
