ACLU-TN is a constant presence at the state capitol during the Tennessee General Assembly session, working to advance legislation that expands or protects our civil liberties and fighting against bills that infringe on our freedoms. But your voice is essential. You can check out highlights of our work at Legislative Plaza and take action on a range of issues below.

This year, we are pursuing pro-active initiatives to increase access to the ballot box; stop discrimination within the criminal justice system based on economic status; and reform the criminal justice system in the areas of mental health, reentry and juvenile justice — including continuing our years-long pursuit to end juvenile life without parole in Tennessee. Just as we have always done, ACLU-TN is prepared to ensure that our newly elected and long-serving representatives uphold Tennessee’s values of justice and equality. We will also fight back against any attempts to harm immigrants and refugees, women, gay and transgender people, and racial and religious minorities.
