April 8, 2008: Re-entry and Restoration of Voting Rights: Dismantling Felon Disenfranchisement Laws in Tennessee

On Tuesday, April 8, 2008, ACLU Attorney Nancy Abudu will present two talks in Knoxville entitled, "Re-entry and Restoration of Voting Rights: Dismantling Felon Disenfranchisement Laws in Tennessee." She will discuss the history of felon disfranchisement laws across the United States, focusing specifically on Tennessee. She will describe the current situation facing former felons in our state, outline problems the ACLU lawsuit seeks to correct, and take questions from the audience.

The first talk will be held at the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office, 1101 Liberty Street, Knoxville at 12:00 noon and is open to the public.

The second talk will be held at the College of Law's Legal Clinic (Room 12) at 3:30 p.m. and is open to the entire U.T. community.

College of Law's Advocacy Center, Legal Clinic and Criminal Law Society, the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office, Knoxville Defense Lawyers Association and ACLU-TN.
