ACLU-TN And National Civil Rights Museum to hold event commemorating Brown v. Board on Thursday, May 27 in Memphis

The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee (ACLU-TN) and the National Civil Rights Museum will sponsor a panel discussion entitled "Does Race Matter? 50 Years After Brown v. Board" on Thursday, May 27, from 6 pm – 7:30 pm at the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis (450 Mulberry Street).

The event will explore if, 50 years after the landmark Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education that ended “separate but equal” as national policy, our country has made any progress toward the ideal of creating a colorblind society. Panelists include:

The Honorable W. W. Herenton, Mayor, City of Memphis
The Honorable W. Otis Higgs, Jr., Criminal Court Judge, Shelby County
Otis Sanford, Managing Editor, The Commercial Appeal
Susan Sanford, Executive Director, Memphis Food Bank

The panel will be moderated by Bruce S. Kramer, ACLU-TN Board Member and Cooperating Attorney.
