Literature of Troubled Times Events in Nashville & Memphis (Tues, 9/24) and Knoxville (Thurs, 9/26)

"Literature of Troubled Times" is the theme for a series of ACLU-TN events held in observance of Banned Books Week. The Memphis and Nashville programs will be held on Tuesday, September 24, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Kidd Booksellers. The Knoxville program will be held at Borders Bookstore on Thursday, September 26, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.

In recognition of the first anniversary of September 11, local celebrities will read from works that recognize the social, political and emotional impact of times of crisis. Reader will read from books that have been challenged or banned in public libraries and public schools in Tennessee and across the nation, including Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee, The Grapes of Wrath, Anne Frank's The Diary of A Young Girl, Catcher in the Rye, Kaffir Boy, and 1984.

Memphis - Tuesday, September 24 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Davis-Kidd Booksellers (387 Perkins Road Extended)
