Intake CoordinatorThe ACLU of Tennessee is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan membership organization whose mission is to protect and promote civil liberties through public education, advocacy, litigation, and legislative activities. ACLU-TN is seeking an Intake Coordinator who will assist with overseeing our Intake /Advocacy Program. Each year the ACLU-TN office, located in Nashville, receives approximately 3,000 requests for assistance from people who believe their rights have been violated. Our intake/advocacy program screens for potential ACLU-TN lawsuits and provides information, referrals, and strategic advice. Individuals contacting us bring to our attention a wide range of civil liberties issues and other types of legal problems. Volunteers are trained to screen these requests for assistance, offer “problem solving” assistance, information about how the legal system works, referrals to other agencies that may be more appropriate, and help the staff identify, for possible legal action, the requests that present significant civil liberties problems that are of interest to the ACLU. QUALIFICATIONSLegal or social work background preferred Commitment to civil liberties and civil rights Sense of humor The Intake Coordinator must commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
