Summer Intern-- Summer 2008

The ACLU of Tennessee is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan membership organization whose mission is to protect and promote civil liberties through public education, advocacy, litigation and legislative activities.

The ACLU-TN Summer Intern is offered a range of valuable learning experiences through our advocacy, public education and legislative programs depending on the needs of the organization and the interests of the applicant at the time of the internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

conducting research;

assisting with public education and advocacy activities;

developing communications and advocacy materials for print and the ACLU-TN website;

performing administrative tasks vital to the function of the office.


QUALIFICATIONS

Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex issues

Detail-oriented

Ability to deal with a wide range of issues

Commitment to civil liberties

Sense of humor

 

Interns must make a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week. Interns who commit 20+ hours per week may pursue a special project developed in conjunction with the Executive Director and Program Coordinator.
