September 17, 2002: "Bush/Ashcroft Assault on Civil Liberties" at ACLU-TN program on Saturday, 9-21

"The Bush/Ashcroft Assault on Civil Liberties" is the topic of the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee's (ACLU-TN) Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, September 21. The program will feature Laura Murphy, Director of the ACLU Washington National Office.

Ms. Murphy is the chief lobbyist of the ACLU and one of National ACLU's spokespersons. She will share her expertise and perspective on the civil liberties implications of the Bush/Ashcroft anti-terrorism measures.

Since 9-11, ACLU has been in the forefront of fighting the Administration's repeated efforts to erode our constitutional guarantees of freedom of speech, due process, and privacy. ACLU is committed to ensuring that our society can be safe and free.

The program, open to ACLU members and friends, will be held at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University at 401 21st Avenue South. Ms. Murphy will speak at 12:30 pm in Room 204. A pot-luck lunch will take place at 11:30 am in Room 106. For more information, call (615) 320-7142.
