Right to Vote Project Intern-- Summer 2008

The ACLU of Tennessee is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan membership organization whose mission is to protect and promote civil liberties through public education, advocacy, litigation, and legislative activities.

ACLU-TN is seeking a Right to Vote Project Intern who will assist the Voting Rights Project Coordinator with our “Right to Vote” public education program, the aim of which is to ensure that former felons can regain their right to vote.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • conduct survey research concerning voter registration for former felons;

  • assist with public education activities;

  • develop advocacy materials for print and the ACLU-TN website;

  • perform administrative tasks vital to the function of the office.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to young people

Detail oriented

Commitment to civil liberties

Sense of humor

Interns must make a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week. Interns who commit 20+ hours per week may pursue a special project developed in conjunction with the Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator.
