Students' Rights Intern-- Summer 2008

The ACLU of Tennessee is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan membership organization whose mission is to protect and promote civil liberties through public education, advocacy, litigation, and legislative activities.

ACLU-TN is seeking a Students’ Intern who will assist with youth outreach activities and coordinate ACLU-TN’s 2008 Students’ Rights Conference.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • assist with conference planning and publicity, including selecting a site, determining content, and conducting outreach to potential participants;

  • develop student-oriented advocacy materials for print and the ACLU-TN website;

  • perform administrative tasks vital to the function of the office.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to young people

Detail oriented

Commitment to civil liberties

Sense of humor
