NASHVILLE – American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee executive director Hedy Weinberg issued the following statement on President Trump’s executive order that would target Muslims for "extreme vetting:"
"We are not a country or a state built on religious litmus tests. Thinly-veiled Islamophobic efforts, from the executive action signed by our president to the shameful lawsuit being pursued by our state legislature, trample on our fundamental American values of religious freedom and equality. The ACLU of Tennessee will continue to stand with our Muslim friends, neighbors and colleagues, whether born here or abroad."
