ANNUAL MEETING: “BLOOD IN THE WATER”: STORIES FROM TENNESEE’S BROKEN BAIL SYSTEM

Thursday, October 145 pm CT/6 pm ET

Location: This will be a virtual event held via Zoom. RSVP required. A Zoom link will be provided upon registration.

In recent years, small cities and rural counties in Tennessee have had the highest incarceration rates per capita. The money bail system is one of the major drivers of incarceration, leading to Tennesseans who have limited incomes – particularly those who live in rural communities – being punished more harshly than their neighbors who have access to resources and money.

On October 14, join ACLU-TN to hear the stories of our neighbors from rural counties across Tennessee at our annual meeting. We will explore how a predatory money bail system empowers bondsharks and prison profiteers to trap vulnerable Tennesseans in an endless cycle of incarceration and the ways Tennessee can work towards bold statewide reform.

This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP through this form or by calling 615-320-7142.
