The full value of your gift may be tax-deductible if the asset has been held for at least one year, and donors generally do not pay capital gains tax on appreciated value. Gifts are deductible as of the date they are received by the Foundation.

Donate directly from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). The ACLU Foundation of Tennessee is eligible to receive QCDs. A QCD allows individuals age 70½ or older to donate up to the current IRS-allowed annual limit directly from an IRA to a qualified charity. These gifts are excluded from taxable income and may satisfy Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), potentially reducing overall tax liability.
