FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Voting officials have confirmed that over 200 votes have been cast in the wrong races in Nashville due to voters receiving the wrong ballots. Redistricting splintered previous precincts in Davidson County, leading to some voters being grouped in the wrong districts.

Davidson County election officials have stated that they corrected the error and are confident that the correct ballots will be issued for the remainder of early voting and on Election Day.

The following can be attributed to Kathy Sinback, ACLU of Tennessee executive director:

We are deeply disturbed by the mistakes that led to several hundred voters casting ballots in the wrong races in Davidson County. However, we must not allow individuals who want to suppress people’s vote for their own political gain to take advantage of this incident by falsely suggesting that your vote doesn’t matter. Your vote is your voice on critical issues – so please keep voting.

The best way to ensure you can vote is to double check your registration online via our state’s election website. If you get to the polls and run into an issue, call the Election Protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE or 888-VE-Y-VOTA for Spanish.”

The state’s election website is available at: https://tnmap.tn.gov/voterlookup/.
