Are you a Tennessee voter who fought to get your voting rights restored, or who is in the process of doing so? We want to hear your story.

The ACLU of Tennessee is producing a storytelling series to help formerly incarcerated Tennesseans understand the voting rights restoration process, and we're looking for real people with real experiences to share.

Those selected must be available on Wednesday, July 8, and will receive a stipend for their time.

If you have navigated the process of restoring your voting rights after a felony conviction in Tennessee, your story could help thousands of others understand what's possible.

What this is:

A paid storytelling opportunity. Selected participants will help explain the steps in the restoration process and share why voting matters to them. Your story may be shared across ACLU-TN and our partners’ platforms and used in community education.

What this is not:

This is not an offer for legal services. Participating does not create an attorney-client relationship with the ACLU of Tennessee.

Who we're looking for:

  • Tennessee residents who have personally navigated the voting rights restoration process
  • People willing to share and document their experience
  • Individuals who want their story to educate and encourage others

If you're interested:

Please complete our contact form and include your date of birth and a few sentences about your experience navigating the voting rights restoration process in Tennessee in the “Message” field at the bottom of the form.

We welcome stories from people who successfully restored their rights and those who encountered barriers along the way. From there, we may reach out for a follow-up conversation. Selected participants who are available to share their story on Wednesday, July 8 will receive a stipend in recognition of their time and contribution.

Please contact us by Friday, June 26.
