ACLU-TN works to ensure that every person can make the best decisions for themselves and their family about whether and when to have a child without undue political interference. Our work encompasses a wide range of issues, including securing age-appropriate sex education in our schools, fighting pregnancy discrimination in the workplace, and protecting an individual’s ability to make personal, private decisions about pregnancy and abortion.

ACLU-TN Urges Governor to Veto Abortion Travel Ban Bill

The ACLU of Tennessee urged Governor Lee to veto SB 1971/HB 1895, which creates a new felony offense for anyone who “recruits, harbors or transports” a minor for the purpose of obtaining an abortion without the parent or legal guardian’s notarized consent.

The Tennessee General Assembly passed a law that would require clinics that provide medication abortions to give their patients false and misleading information about a "reversal" to medication abortions, an unproven claim with no basis in medical research.
