The ACLU of Tennessee urged Governor Lee to veto SB 1971/HB 1895, which creates a new felony offense for anyone who “recruits, harbors or transports” a minor for the purpose of obtaining an abortion without the parent or legal guardian’s notarized consent. 

Protesters blocked the entrance to the carafem clinic in Mount Juliet, allegedly falsely claiming that clinic staff were violating Tennessee’s abortion laws and urging police to arrest them.

On June 27, Tennessee’s ban on abortion after approximately six weeks into pregnancy took effect, prohibiting abortion in the state before many people even know they are pregnant.
